Consumer law
Under Turkish law, regulations on consumer law for the first time came into force in 1995 with the Act on Consumer Protection, no. 4077. Due to increasing necessity to make changes over time, the Law No. 6502 on the Protection of the Consumer entered into force in 2014. Consumer law regulates the matters related to protecting the health, safety and economic interests of the consumer, compensating for damages, providing protection from environmental hazards, enlightening and raising awareness of the consumer, encouraging the initiatives of consumers to protect themselves, and encouraging voluntary organizations in the formation of policies on consumer protection.
